Overview

Zenjot ("we", "our", "the app") is a journaling and mood tracking application. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Journal Entries

• Mood selections, sub-emotions, and text entries you create
• Stored on your device (local storage) and synced to our secure cloud (Firebase Firestore)
• Journal text is sent to our AI service (OpenAI) only for generating weekly insights
• OpenAI does not store or train on your data per their API data usage policy

Account Data

• Anonymous identifier (created automatically)
• Apple ID email (only if you choose to Sign In with Apple)
• Timezone and notification preferences

Usage Analytics

• App opens, feature usage, subscription events
• Collected via Firebase Analytics (Google, first-party)
• No third-party advertising SDKs

Crash Reports

• Anonymous crash and error reports via Firebase Crashlytics
• Contains no personal journal content

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Photos or camera data
• Health or fitness data
• Browsing history
• Data from other apps

How We Use Your Data

1. App functionality: Store and display your journal entries, generate AI insights
2. Analytics: Understand how features are used to improve the app
3. Crash reporting: Fix bugs and improve stability
4. Notifications: Send daily reminders and weekly digest alerts (if enabled)

AI Processing

• Weekly insights are generated using OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini
• Your entries from the past 7 days are sent to the AI for analysis
• The AI response is stored as your weekly digest
• OpenAI does not retain or train on data sent via their API

Data Storage & Security

• Local data: stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework
• Cloud data: stored in Google Firebase Firestore with encryption at rest and in transit
• Authentication: Firebase Authentication with Apple Sign-In
• API keys: stored server-side only, never in the app client

Data Retention

• Your data is retained as long as your account exists
• Deleted accounts have all data removed within 30 days
• You can export all your data in JSON format from Settings

Your Rights

• Access: Export all your data from Settings → Export My Data
• Delete: Delete your account and all data from Settings → Delete Account
• Portability: Exported data is in standard JSON format

Children's Privacy

Zenjot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app.
